On My Head: Night life (Chad inspired)

Updated: Jul 7, 2019

It's time..

Night life awaits!

You have your coat ready, your bag in hand and you've already called a cab or started up your car ready to leave for a night out. You know your outfit is to die for but what about your hair? We all want to look good from the top of our heads to the soles of our feet.

Ladies, especially naturalistas, experience some challenges when styling our hair for a night out.

Maybe you're tired of sporting the usual puff or wash and go or the well known afro which, in the cold weather, may not hold up very well during night time. You want to keep the natural vibe but yet have it look stylish and funky. Furthermore, you would want a hairstyle that won't have you correcting it the whole night worrying that it's out of place, that it shrunk up too much or that it looks too wild.

So what do you do with your hair?

Chadian women are known for their super long hair and the known Chebe Powder which they use to grow their hair. Their hairstyles are fairly simple mostly comprising of braids and this hairstyle for me was a win.

Hair held back in a ponytail with two braids on the side.

I chose this hairstyle because it has an edgy look(in my opinion), it isn't time consuming to do and it can be used as a protective style because most of the hair is tucked in. Adornments can also be added easily to this hairstyle.

Knowing that this hairstyle would not have looked exactly the same on most of us ladies as it does on some Chadian women taking into account that their hair is much thinner than our hair I still decided to try it out. Adding braids to this hairstyle and a few adornments to give it a little more spice, modifying the ponytail to reduce the effect of frizz to give it a little more spice this was the result.

Whether an indoor or outdoor party, this style won't come in the way of you having a good time.

The night is young.

The night is long.

Cheers! :)

I love the advice. I've never been a huge fan of jewelry but after seeing this I believe I will include more jewelry in my outfits.
