The Wodaabe...
Signature pompadour with two braids on the side.
For many years hairstyles worn to the office/workplace have been considered to be rigid and plain. However, with changing trends and growing permissibility in offices(some more than others), hairstyles have become a bit more lively. With that, joining the braids, cornrows, wash and goes and TWAs(Tinnie Winnie Afros) is the Wodaabe. 🙂
The Wodaabe is actually a tribe in the western part of Africa and just as their tribe’s name is Wodaabe so is the name of their trademark hairstyle.
This hairstyle is very structured but is also edgy and slightly daring which I thought makes it viable for the office. It has round and straight lines for the eyes to easily follow thus giving a set structure but the braids/twists coupled with few adornments give it an edge.
Making a few alterations here and there to the hairstyle (i.e. having a swirly pompadour instead of a round one and adding a few more twists to it) to make it a bit more funky but still safe I tried it out.
I believe it held it’s own both fashion wise….
And in the office.
Would you wear this hairstyle to the office?
Would you add to or take away from this hairstyle?
