This weather calls for hats and hats in abundance!
The sun is out and most, if not all of us, can’t help but get sun-kissed, sun-tanned or hyper pigmented; however you choose to look at it. No one (at least no one I know) likes nasty ol’ sunburns and that is why hats, friends, were invented. I had never been a fan of those large-sized hats, till recently, as I thought them to be too cumbersome to handle but after getting scorched by the sun day after day I just had to develop and interest in them and quite frankly, they aren’t as bad as I thought.
They shield one’s face, ears and neck from the harmful sun’s rays plus they look cute and/or stylish too. You can ‘slay’ with your outfit and still protect your skin. It’s a win-win situation!
Disclaimer: The only down side to hats is that they are not allowed in the work place, mostly the corporate world as it brings a casual feel. They can be worn during the weekdays by college students or people who are self employed. However, during the weekends, it’s all level playing field. 🙂
So here are a few examples on how to dress up or down a hat and my own different categories of hats.
Enjoy! 😉
1. The Sun Hat(s)
Half brimmed sun hat
It can be dressed up with an on-the-go look: a top, pair of jeans and a boot.
SLAYED!!!
wide full brimmed sun hat
A sun hat can also be worn with a sassy toga dress and a pair of heels for a classier and more feminine on-the-go look.
This look is definitely great for social/casual meetings and a date!
Prep yourself
A pair of sunglasses come in handy. They complete the look(s) and also shield your eyes from the sun.
SLAYED!!!
PS: 1)Brown, black and/or beige hats are a must have in your wardrobe because they are easily pulled off. 2) Full large brimmed hats are more preferable when trying to avoid sunburn as they will also protect your neck from the harsh sun rays.
2. The Vintage/ Church Hat
This Hat is amazing for events and even meetings (depending on the nature of the meeting) during the weekends if you want to look retro.
Sunday
It also is amazing for looking chic when going to church on a sunday or whenever your day of worship is.
SLAYED!!!
3.The Floppy Hat
This hat can be worn with a simple dress and rubber shoes or sandals to bring out a more free, relaxed and still feminine look when relaxing during the weekend.
It can also be dressed up when you’re on the go as seen on my previous blog post.
And that is it for this blog post.
Hope you got the picture…
Till next time,
Adorably SLAYED!
XOXO
Lui.
